Fixation exercise
This exercise takes less than a minute, but immediately gets your eyes and brain going! It's very easy: three fixations per line, three rounds in a row, target time 15 seconds each.
You train all essential aspects of successful eye training for reading purposes at the same time:
- aligning your fixations forward, without regression
- large gaze jumps
- in the second half: focus widely and capture groups of words
- reduce subvocalization (here it would be best to only “hear”: "one-two-three")
Do the “before and after” comparison: read a text normally (with good comprehension) for one minute, then do this exercise (only physical fixations), and then read another minute (with good comprehension again). You will probably immediately notice that you read much faster and that your fixations are more automatic!
